about

Oavette, an instrumental post-rock band hailing from the prefecture of Aichi in Japan, has recently released their first album. This rerecorded and remastered compilation features all of the previously released tracks from their debut EP "Oavette EP," which was discontinued, as well as their latest EP "Oavette2," which was released in 2021.

Their music blends digital and primitive folk elements, featuring two guitars that create intoxicating whirlpools of intricate rhythms. Heavy bass cuts through the spaces between the percussion while stoically sharp mechanical melodies round out the sound - creating a human-powered dance experience.

The simple, unhurried loops of calculated and controlled repetitions are interwoven with each instrument’s free and technical playing, creating a thrilling exchange of restraint and collision amidst dense and elaborate movements.

Like an endless landscape, all the tracks are connected without interruption, and like the "O" in Oavette, the circular loop creates a never-ending sense of immersion.

The album's first track marks a beginning, an end, and a new start. Commemorating 10 years of existence, the album features an overwhelming, infinite sound groove that draws a circle continuing to spin and spread with quiet heat.

Bob Weston (Shellac, Chicago Mastering Service) mastered the record, while Naohiro Asakura (nostos) handled the sound recording and mixing. The physical version of the record features Weston's mastering, which differs from the digital distribution.
